Christmas Cocktails

It’s the most wonderful time to drink beer…Aunt Erma’s snoring and everyone’s boring. Your nephew’s a queer…It’s the most wonderful time to drink beer! Bob Narley’s song got it right… no, not about your nephew… but that Christmas is indeed the most wonderful time to drink beer! But if you’re opting for something a little classier, try these Christmas cocktails that are sure to fire up your holidays!

  • The Grinch. This “Grinch” won’t spoil and steal your Christmas; it might even make it brighter. Just prepare 60 ml of honeydew-melon flavoured Midori Japanese liquor, 14 ml of fresh lemon juice, and one teaspoon of sugar syrup. Add some ice and mix everything up in a shaker, pour into a chilled martini glass … and voila! Your very own green Christmas Grinch. Don’t forget to add a red cherry for some festive garnishing.
  • Holly Berry. Deck your cocktail glass with berries and mix yourself this popular Christmas cocktail. Four ml of fresh lemon juice, 40 ml of Plymouth Gin, raspberry juice, and fresh raspberries are all you’ll need. Mix and shake the Plymouth Gin, lemon juice, and ice. Strain the mixture into a cocktail glass, pour the raspberry juice on top, and garnish your drink with fresh raspberries. If you want a drink that’s as strong as Halle Berry’s allure, try replacing the raspberry juice with raspberry liquor.
  • White Christmas Dream. No need to dream of a white Christmas when you can prepare one yourself. Just combine 30 ml each of amaretto (generic Italian liquor made from apricot pits and herbs), heavy cream, and vodka in a shaker. Strain this into a chilled cocktail glass, and garnish with nutmeg.
  • Kandy Kane. This “kandy kane” is more feisty than sweet. A shooter made of 30 ml of crème de noyaux layered over 30 ml of Rumble Minze, this cocktail’s sure to knock you out during the Christmas season.
  • Christmas Cosmo. Nothing can be more cosmopolitan than this classic. Mix and shake 15 ml each of Cointreau (the famous French liquor) and cranberry juice, 1 teaspoon of fresh lime juice, and 30 ml of vodka. Strain the mixture into a chilled martini glass and add a few floating, frozen cranberries to garnish.
